Every year for the past several years, Pop Queen Rihanna has dropped a new album in the Fall. While there’s been no official announcement about whether RiRi will release a new album this year, we do know that there’s at least one more single on the way from ‘Unapologetic’.
Co-written by British singer-songwriter Livvi Franc, “What Now” is one of the emotional highlights on the current album: “There’s no one to call ’cause I’m just playing games with them all / The more I swear I’m happy, the more that I’m feeling alone.” The mid-tempo piano ballad has been given a major dance floor facelift, with official remix offerings from Firebeatz, R3hab and — my favorite of the bunch — DJ/Producer Guy Scheiman.
Three of my favorite DJs and music producers have teamed up to remix one of the year’s hottest EDM tracks — “I Could Be the One” by Avicii and Nicky Romero. The production trio known as “The Bent Collective” includes Danny Verde (Italy), Steven Redant (Belgium), and Guy Scheiman (Israel) — three of the hottest and most successful music producers in Europe at the moment. Individually, they’ve turned out some of the best productions of the past year. Collectively, they’re on FIRE, transforming the drop-heavy progressive monster “I Could Be the One” into an upbeat house rework that makes it more accessible for a dance floor.
This track + this trio = PURE GENIUS.
I first fell in love with Canadian singer/songwriter Anjulie back in 2008, when her single “Love Songs” reached #8 on the Billboard Dance charts. There’s something about her sound that’s reminiscent of Kylie — a combination of breathy vocals and saccharine innuendo that create pure pop magic. For her latest track, “You & I,” Anjulie teams up with EDM producer Benny Benassi, who is well-known for his pounding house beats and soaring dance grooves. The result is a terrific combination of pop & dance, made even better by the talented DJ/Producer Guy Scheiman in his remix below. You can check out Guy’s full remix on my January podcast: http://djgrind.podomatic.com/entry/2013-01-10T00_00_00-08_00
