Every now and then, a Christian pop star successfully crosses over to become a mainstream artist. Case in point: Katy Perry, who struggled as a Christian pop singer until she went rogue with her breakout hit “I Kissed a Girl.” Well, Britt Nicole is hoping to follow in Ms. Perry’s footsteps, with a crossover track that’s less sensational, but equally delicious. “Gold” is Britt’s debut mainstream single, taken from her eponymous album that debuted last year at the top of the Hot Christian Albums Chart. In a new deal struck with Capitol Records, an updated version of Britt’s album will be released in mainstream markets next month, and new remixes of “Gold” from Wideboys and Jason Nevins give the 27-year old North Carolina native a good shot at a Billboard Dance hit. Sure, it’s creepy to watch the track’s music video on GodTube (yes, I’m serious), but lucky for us, “Gold” is on it’s way to a secular Top 40 radio station and dance floor near you!
